Creating Panoramas in Photoshop CS4by Beverly Houwing When taking pictures to stitch together for a panorama, make sure you capture the images in a way that will make it as successful as possible for Photoshop to create a seamless blend into one continuous panoramic image. • Keep the camera level as you pan over to capture each segment. A tripod will greatly assist you in this. • Try to keep the exposure of each frame as consistent as possible. Changing to manual mode for these settings will maintain a consistent light balance for each frame.
These four panels can be converted to a Panorama via File > Automate > Photomerge. You will then browse to the files you want to combine and select them. In the Photomerge options, make sure Blend images together, Vignette Removal & Geometric Distortion Correction options are checked.
The Auto Layout works fine for most panoramas. The four images will be automatically aligned by Photoshop which adjusts the size and shape of the images to register their overlapping areas.
Photoshop will automatically adjust the color of each layer and create Layer Masks to hide the edge seams. Use the Crop Tool to crop out any areas where there is no image so that the panorama fills the canvas.
