WHAT'S WITH THAT GREEN AUDIO LINE?
You've probably edited some music or sound effects from a CD. In the FCP Timeline, you see a dark green line appear over the audio clip from the CD.
This is because CD sound is "sampled" at 44.1 kHz. But your sequence audio is typically 48 kHz. Here's a trick that lets you convert your CD audio tracks to 48kHz, and transfer them to a permanent location––off the CD––at the same time!
PROBLEM
CD audio does not import at 48kHz and therefore doesn't match your sequence audio as precisely as it could.
SOLUTION
Import the CD tracks, then use the Batch Export function to convert those tracks to 48kHz audio, while you target a permanent destination for them at the same time.

1. Create a new bin in the Browser and then put a CD into your computer. Drag the tracks you want to use from the CD directly into the new bin. Select the new bin of CD tracks.
2. Choose File > Batch Export. In the Export Queue window, click the Settings button. Set a destination, perhaps with your project files, where you want to keep the new tracks permanently. Click the Format pop-up and choose AIFF. Click the Options button and choose 48.000 as the Rate. In the Export Queue window, click the Export button.

3. Now delete the CD tracks you first dragged into the Browser, and import the new audio tracks you just created from their new destination. These tracks will be 48 kHz and match your sequence.
